Nipsey Hussle: Grammy-nominated rapper shot dead in LA

The Grammy-nominated rapper and community activist Nipsey Hussle has been shot dead outside his Los Angeles clothing store, aged 33.

Three men were shot on Sunday outside Marathon Clothing, and one of them was later declared dead in hospital, said police, without revealing the identity of the victim.

The LA Times and NBC quoted police sources as saying the victim was Hussle. The city’s mayor, Eric Garcetti tweeted: “Our hearts are with the loved ones of Nipsey Hussle and everyone touched by this awful tragedy. LA is hurt deeply each time a young life is lost to senseless gun violence. My Crisis Response Team is assisting the families coping with shock and grief.”

Police said the other two men were in a stable condition. The gunman fled, and no arrests have been made. “At this point, we’re not even sure as to whether he walked up, rode a bicycle or drove up in a car,” said LA police lieutenant Chris Ramirez.

Just hours before his death, Hussle tweeted: “Having strong enemies is a blessing.”

Brain dead woman gives birth to "miracle baby" before life support is switched off

 A pregnant woman who was brain dead was placed on life support long enough to deliver her baby boy before the life support was switched off. Catarina Sequeira, 26, an international sportswoman, suffered an acute asthma attack while she was 19 weeks pregnant. She was tragically declared brain dead in December. But doctors kept the Canoeist alive long enough so she can deliver her "miracle baby" She gave birth at almost 32 weeks pregnant.

Biodun Stephen screens ‘Joba’ ahead of April 5 release

Biodun Stephen has screened her upcoming movie, ‘Joba’ ahead of its cinematic release on April 5. Stephen held the screening for a selected audience that includes media, actors, and associates. ‘Joba’s media screening was attended by Biodun Stephen, alongside casts like Blossom Chukwujekwu, Enado Odigie, Chris Iheuwa, and co-producer, Christine Osifuye.

Other celebrities that attended the screening include Bisola Aiyeola, Woli Arole, Gospel Singer Psalmos, and Senior Pastor of Christ Livingspring Apostolic Church (CLAM) Wole Oladiyun. Stephen disclosed that the reaction of attendees after screening the movie shows that it’s well received. “I am happy the movie was well received. It is a faith-based movie that was inspired by a spirit filled song and I can say everything about the movie remains divine,” Stephen said. Speaking at the screening, Enado Odigie, who plays the lead female character said the role was overwhelming.

STAN LEE DEAD AT 95

Stan Lee, the Marvel Comics legend who co-created some of its most famous heroes like Spider-Man, Iron Man, and the Fantastic Four, died Monday in Los Angeles at the age of 95. Lee was reportedly rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where he later died, according to 3m360. The cause of death has not been immediately released.

Lee’s legacy is defined by his numerous popular comic book character creations for Marvel Comics, where he began working in 1939 at age 18 when the company was called Timely Comics. The company changed its name to Marvel Comics in 1961 when Lee and artist Jack Kirby co-created the Fantastic Four and saw it go on to become a hit.

Lee’s birth name was “Stanley Martin Lieber,” but used “Stan Lee” as his pen name and then later had it legally changed.

With the success of Marvel’s First Family came more Lee/Kirby creations throughout the 1960s, including Hulk, Thor, Iron Man and the X-Men. Lee co-created Daredevil with Bill Everett, and Doctor Strange and Spider-Man with Steve Ditko. The characters all lived in a shared universe that mirrors our own, with most heroes residing in Lee’s home of New York City. The common factor that proved to be Lee’s key to success was giving superheroes relatable flaws as opposed to making them perfect, infallible beings.
