STAN LEE DEAD AT 95

Stan Lee, the Marvel Comics legend who co-created some of its most famous heroes like Spider-Man, Iron Man, and the Fantastic Four, died Monday in Los Angeles at the age of 95. Lee was reportedly rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where he later died, according to 3m360. The cause of death has not been immediately released.

Lee’s legacy is defined by his numerous popular comic book character creations for Marvel Comics, where he began working in 1939 at age 18 when the company was called Timely Comics. The company changed its name to Marvel Comics in 1961 when Lee and artist Jack Kirby co-created the Fantastic Four and saw it go on to become a hit.

Lee’s birth name was “Stanley Martin Lieber,” but used “Stan Lee” as his pen name and then later had it legally changed.

With the success of Marvel’s First Family came more Lee/Kirby creations throughout the 1960s, including Hulk, Thor, Iron Man and the X-Men. Lee co-created Daredevil with Bill Everett, and Doctor Strange and Spider-Man with Steve Ditko. The characters all lived in a shared universe that mirrors our own, with most heroes residing in Lee’s home of New York City. The common factor that proved to be Lee’s key to success was giving superheroes relatable flaws as opposed to making them perfect, infallible beings.

Jude Law makes his debut as Albus Dumbledore
After being name-checked in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the future headmaster of Hogwarts makes his debut in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.       

Today we got our first look at Jude Law in costume as Albus Dumbledore, complete with a short beard, long, grey corduroy coat and some very nicely embellished shoes. To echo the words of Kingsley Shacklebolt – you’ve got to hand it to Dumbledore: he’s got style.

Dumbledore will ask his former student Newt for his help, and the two do seem to have a history: Dumbledore argued against Newt’s expulsion from Hogwarts years earlier. And in the latest edition of the textbook Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, a new foreword from Newt says that Dumbledore was ‘more than a school teacher to me’.

People continue to stay in unsatisfying romantic relationships because they believe that leaving would be bad for their partners, a study suggests. Published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, the study explored the possibility that people deciding whether to end a relationship consider not only their own desires but also how much they think their partner wants and needs the relationship to continue.

"The more dependent people believed their partner was on the relationship, the less likely they were to initiate a breakup," said Samantha Joel, who was an assistant professor at the University of Utah in the US at the time of the research.

Actor Gerard Butler says submarine thriller Hunter Killer tells a classic story, but it is very relevant. "When I first read this script a few years ago, I loved it immediately. It's a classic story with a heck of a lot of great action, a heck of an intricate plot and a whole cast of fantastic characters who are heroes from different walks of life," Butler said in a statement to IANS. "It felt like an exciting way to revive the submarine thriller for these times. And right now, this story couldn't feel more relevant," he added.                         
The film is adapted from Don Keith and George Wallace's 2012 novel Firing Point. Butler plays a submarine captain on a mission to rescue the Russian president and avoid World War 3 by firing torpedoes at everything in sight. Directed by Donovan Marsh, it also stars Gary Oldman and Linda Cardellini. PVR Pictures and MVP Entertainment are bringing the film to India. It will release on October 26.

Bumblebee Prepares for a New Transformers Adventure

Paramount has released a new poster and photo from Bumblebee. The upcoming Transformers spin-off has a pretty big hill to climb, in terms of what it needs to accomplish. The previous movie in the franchise, 2017's The Last Knight, was rejected by critics and saw a lot of moviegoers abandon ship and opt not to check it out in theaters. Now, the studio has decided to scale things back and give everyone's favorite yellow Autobot a chance to shine. This new poster and the latest image continue to serve as encouragement that this may be just what the franchise needs right now.

This latest poster has a similar vibe to the previously released theatrical poster. It's very much a "girl and her car" sort of thing with some old school Amblin vibes going on. Bumblebee and Hailee Steinfeld's Charlie are overlooking a city at night from a vantage point in the mountains. It's hard not to think of E.T. just a little bit. And if you must compare a movie to something, that's not a bad place to start.
As for the new image, it's pretty charming. We see Bumblebee hanging out in a very 80s house and doing his best to politely fit in, quite literally. He's sitting on a couch but, as you can see, it's not going perfectly well. Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura also had this to say about the spin-off, emphasizing that this movie is going to be much smaller in scope than the previous few Transformers movies have been.

Emmys: Complete Winners List

TV's biggest night is here. Colin Jost and Michael Che of "Saturday Night Live" hosted the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
"Game of Thrones" and "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" won big, picking up outstanding drama series and outstanding comedy series, respectively.
Here's the list of winners from the show.
During the telecast, Maisel claimed five wins, including for comedy series, two for showrunner Amy Sherman-Palladino in the writing and directing categories, and honors for Rachel Brosnahan in the lead actor category and Alex Borstein in the supporting actor category.
Meanwhile, FX's The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story claimed three honors, for best limited series as well as lead actor Darren Criss and directing in a limited series for Ryan Murphy.
HBO's Game of Thrones took home two wins, for best drama series and for Peter Dinklagein the supporting actor category. HBO's Barry claimed wins in the lead actor category for Bill Hader and in the supporting actor category for Henry Winkler. Netflix's Godless and The Crown and FX's The Americans also claimed two honors.
NBC's Saturday Night Live took home the variety sketch series honor while HBO's Last Week Tonight nabbed the variety talk series win.

With an estimated $53.5 million, Warner Bros.'s release of New Line's The Nun destroyed the previous franchise opening weekend record set by the very first The Conjuring at $41.8 million. The debut is also the second largest September opening ever, topping the $48.4 million set by Hotel Transylvania 2 in 2015, while placing well behind the massive, $123.4 million opening for WB's It just last year. In fact, The Nun's $53.5 million debut is also the second largest opening ever for an R-rated horror film, again placing behind WB's It.

However, many women in the developing world continue to use cloth or rags as they cannot afford menstrual hygiene products.during their period. One dead, dozens injured as Catholic Church collapses on worshipers during morning mass in Delta State

 One worshipper has been confirmed dead, scores injured while dozens of other worshippers of the St. Paul Catholic Church, Ugolo, Adagbrasa in Okpe local government area of Delta State are still trapped as the church building collapsed during morning mass service. The immediate cause of the crash is yet to be ascertained, but the State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, has directed a delegation led by the State Commissioner for Works, Chief James Augoye, to visit the scene with the aim of unravelling the circumstances surrounding the collapse of the church building.

Two of France’s biggest rappers, Booba and Kaaris jailed for a month after fighting at the Paris airport causing flights to be cancelled

Booba and Kaaris, two of France’s biggest rap stars have been ordered to spend a month in custody after a brawl between them and their entourages delayed flights and forced a partial shutdown of a Paris airport.  

The beef between the rap stars at Orly airport kicked off on Wednesday in a departure hall packed with holidaymakers, some of whom filmed the incident on their phones as the rivals fought across shelves of perfume and souvenirs at a duty-free store.  

A French judge on Friday said “persistent animosity between the two groups” and the risk of further altercations meant the rappers and nine others should remain in detention until the next hearing on September 6.  

“What happened is inexcusable, regrettable,” Booba said during the hearing, making reference to the travelling families, working people and children who were there at the time.

Great Apps You've Probably Never Heard Of

 

A few years ago there was an app called Meerkat with the main purpose to stream live videos just like Periscope. The app received $12 million in start-up funding, but unfortunately never took off mainly because Twitter bought Periscope which later went viral.

This app was previously known as H—R. Hear harmonizes the sounds around you to help you  reduce stress and be less distracted. It remixes surrounding sounds with your phones’ built-in microphone and lets you hear them throughout various filters like super hearing, sleep, relax and the list goes on. This makes for great white noise if you need to eliminate sounds around you. Besides that, it is also great for city bike rides or jogging because it lets you listen to music while at the same time providing you with the sounds that are surrounding you.

PADUPAFRICA Registered with the United Nations to be a the CEDAW stakeholders meeting programe july 2018 abuja . The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), adopted in 1979 by the UN General Assembly, is often described as an international bill of rights for women. Consisting of a preamble and 30 articles, it defines what constitutes discrimination against women and sets up an agenda for national action to end such discrimination.

The Convention defines discrimination against women as "...any distinction, exclusion or restriction made on the basis of sex which has the effect or purpose of impairing or nullifying the recognition, enjoyment or exercise by women, irrespective of their marital status, on a basis of equality Of men and women, of human rights and fundamental freedoms in the political, economic, social, cultural, civil or any other field."

By accepting the Convention, States commit themselves to undertake a series of measures to end discrimination against women in all forms.Women now have a Hub were we can report,educate,learn,and network..We are causing the changes that we want to see.

Young Dolph’s Friends Arrested With Guns In Hollywood

 

Young Dolph and three of his friends were arrested in Hollywood after police found guns on them.
 According to TMZ, Dolph and his friends were pulled over for a traffic stop when they found guns on each of the rappers friends. Everyone was arrested and sent straight to jail, but Dolph was able to get out.

Trey Songz allegedly hit a woman in the face at a party during NBA All-Star weekend. According to TMZ, police say a woman filed a police report claiming Songz hit her in the face Saturday night during a Hollywood Hills party.

 The woman claims Trey got mad because she was talking to another man, and he struck her in the face during an argument. She reportedly left the party to go to the hospital, and spoke with police shortly after that. The case is being reviewed by the L.A. City Attorney to determine if the singer will be charged.
