Nigerian arrested with N1bn cash in Niger

Nigerian arrested with N1bn cash in Niger

The police in neighbouring Niger Republic arrested a Nigerian carrying 4.6m Euros (N1.05bn) in cash at the Diori Hamani Airport in Niamey, the capital of Niger, on his way to Dubai. However, the Nigerien authorities have refused to send the seized funds back to Nigerian authorities.

The Nigerien police said they suspected that the man was fleeing with the money in order to avoid being caught by the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, who has been prosecuting an anti-corruption campaign since assumption of office on May 29.
They also expressed worry that there has been a rise in the number of Nigerians transferring huge sums of money in cash through neighbouring countries.

Murder accused: Wrestling legend Jimmy 'Superfly' Snuka
Wrestling legend Jimmy 'Superfly' Snuka has been charged with murdering his girlfriend more than 30 years ago, it was reported tonight.
Nancy Argentino, then aged 23, died in mysterious circumstances at a motel in Pennsylvania on May 10, 1983.
Snuka, whose real name is James Wiley Smith Reiher, was named as a 'person of interest' at the time but no charges were ever brought and the case went cold.
Now, more than three decades later, Snuka has been arrested after a grand jury concluded he had caused the injuries which led to her death.
Snuka, now 72, is believed to have repeatedly assaulted Argentino in their hotel room at the George Washington Motor Lodge in Whitehall Township.
He is then accused of leaving her to lie on their bed "without obtaining the necessary medical attention", Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin told a press conference.
Martin added that Argentino had a multitude of face, scalp and body bruises and abrasions consistent with domestic abuse, it was reported.
