Don Jazzy Officially Introduces Us To Mavin Records – Photos & Video from the Press Conference

After very few interviews, and an official press conference at Likwid Lounge held with regards to Don Jazzy‘s new record label, the prolific hit-maker, Don Jazzy decided to officially introduce us to his brainchild, Mavin Records.

Songs like “Oma Ga” by Tiwa Savage, “Chocolate” by Dr. Sid; “Take Banana” by D’Prince and “See Me Ri” by Wande Coal, all off the Mavin All Stars‘ debut “Solar Plexus” album, are making radical waves throughout the music industry with massive airplay literally everywhere.

The Mavin Records team is set to release a compilation album “Solar Plexus” featuring all the Mavin stars. According to the website, the album will be released on the 8th of May 2012 – Tomorrow!

So what is Mavin? Well, apparently it’s a new work coined to describe “someone who is dazzlingly skilled in any field“.

Message from Don Jazzy

I see Mavin Records being the power house of Music in Africa in the shortest possible time. I know Rome wasn’t built in a day but with a lot of hard work, a good and God fearing team, our friends and fans, TV houses, radio stations, press, bloggers and most of all with God on our side, there is nothing we cannot achieve.

I definitely won’t forget my past because I wouldn’t be where I am today without it. I know there are questions unanswered, mysteries unsolved, wounds to heal but I would really appreciate if we allow time to heal the wounds for us all instead of digging them up again.

I love and respect the press and bloggers a lot and believe they will play a major role in healing our wounds and allow the forward movement. I would love to thank everyone that contributed in making Mohits records as successful as it got. We wouldn’t have done it without you all. The love and support you have given us thus far is definitely not in vain. You all helped create international superstars and none of us will let you down.

Akon, P-Square, Tiwa Savage & Co Join Banky W For Birthday Gig!

Banky W’s surprise birthday party on Tuesday March 27, 2012 at The Grotto in Victoria Island, Lagos brought out a large number of A- list entertainers.

With so much love from fans on twitter, facebook and elsewhere, and a guest list that included Akon, Psquare, MI, Tiwa Savage, Kel, Ini Edo, Skales, Toolz and others, the R&B giant and EME Chairman had a time of his life!

“Even when I gbagaun, I don’t get half as many mentions as this ooh…. Thank you so much for the birthday wishes… God bless” the singer said to his fans on twitter, earlier in the day.

Before The Grotto surprise party put together by his friends, Banky told journalists in Lagos he plans to dedicate more of his time to “helping young talents grow and do all I can to make the journey easier for talented young people out there trying to build a career in music”.

“As I grow older, it’s becoming very important for me to play my little part in developing this industry; to play my own role in empowering our youths, and in extension, the nation. I’ll be happy if I can help more and more upcoming talents escape the hurdles I passed through while coming up. Everyone sees Banky W, Wizkid, 2face, Psquare or D’banj – but people forget that for each one of us that makes it, there are dozens others who fell by the way side; most of them could have made it if only they got more support. I made it to where I am because of the love and support from the media, my label, fans, promoters and my family. I think it’s my responsibility, to make sure I support those coming behind. That’s what I’ve done with Wizkid. We’re working on Skales now, and many more are on the way”.

Banky W’s protégé WizKid was missing in action from his mentor’s “Lagos party”, but he had a good reason- he was away in America having series of sit downs and focused discussions with prominent African-Americans and promoters ahead of the forthcoming EME tour. “Happy Birthday to my big bro, Banky W.
