Frank Bruno's latest fight against bipolar disorder boosted by support from thousands of fans

Thousands of Frank Bruno fans sent messages of support after it emerged the boxing legend was back in hospital following a setback in his fight against bipolar disorder.
Yesterday we exclusively revealed that the former world heavyweight champ had been admitted voluntarily for treatment.

Fans of the 53-year-old immediately took to Twitter to wish him well.
Helen King wrote: “Frank Bruno demonstrates great mental health under pressure. It takes real guts and sanity to check yourself in.”

Heather Boughton said: “I met Frank years ago. What a gentle and good-hearted man he is.”
Martin Evans added: “Very sad he is back in hospital. Get well soon, Champ.”
Boxing promoter Kellie Maloney wrote: “Saying prayer for Frank. He gives hope to so many kids.”
Mental health charity Mind praised the fighter’s efforts to break the stigma of bipolar disorder and wished him a speedy recovery.

Londoner Frank, who has been sectioned three times in the past 12 years, went to hospital on Thursday with severe depression.
Just days before, the dad of four looked happy and relaxed after finishing the Great North Run.

He has been a long-time supporter of campaigns run by the us and our sister newspapers to improve services for people with mental health issues.
He had been due to speak at a dinner in Lincoln tonight.
His spokesman Dave Davies said: “After a very busy period Frank decided to seek medical help.”

If you think a friend, relative, or loved one may have ,  disorder, your support and understanding is crucial. Encourage them to see a doctor about any symptoms they are having.
