2face Reveals Plans On New Album, Akon Collaboration And Love

Innocent ‘2face’ Idibia has been all over the news recently, mostly due to his Valentine day proposal to long term girlfriend Annie Macaulay, with many still commenting on the implications (no pun intended) of such a move. But the man at the centre of it all is still working on what he knows how to do best, trying not to be distracted by the media hype around his upcoming wedding, instead putting in work for upcoming musical efforts to be released sometime soon.

In a recent interview on the Ms.Royalty Show during his trip to the US, 2baba, as he is fondly called by many, said that he was hard at work on a new album.

‘Musically, I’m working on my next album right now. I’m working on two albums actually. A rewind select and update. It’s a compilation of my old songs but I’ve re-produced and then a new album is going come out, a Nigerian version and international version’ he said.

He also hinted at upcoming collaborations with international artist, Akon, who is showing more than just a passing interest in the African music scene, with reported joint efforts with a couple of African acts besides 2face.

‘Yeah. But you know it’s a very cordial relationship. Akon is good people, he’s one of the artistes I respect a lot. You know, Konvict Africa is about to come up big‘. So he [Akon] said ‘2face let’s work, let’s do something together, let’s take over Africa’.

The 36-year-old father of five also gave a bit of advice to unmarried men on choosing a life partner, stating that it was a decision that should not be borne out of pressure.

‘For me when you feel it, you feel it, when you don’t feel it you don’t feel it. Don’t let pressure or don’t let people pressure you into getting into a relationship. So you’re getting into a relationship because you want to stop what people are saying?’ He asked rhetorically.

‘Or because you want to please your mum, please your dad or please your uncle. Let it be what you’re feeling. Sometimes you feeling something, you know this person is right for you but maybe you know you’re not ready. Deep inside you know you’re not ready to commit. You still have to use style and hold the person. But it’s just basically; just follow your heart man’, he further added.

2face has just returned from Los Angeles where he worked on his new single ‘Somebody loves you’.
