Hans Bekx, former member of the reggae inspired group, H-Mode has officially released his debut single as a solo act, featuring none other than Ghana’s favorite rapper of the moment, Sarkodie. ‘Brita Dae’ is an inspirational song with a message of hope and encouraging people not to give up in the face of adversities. The just released music video is also a simple and picturesque reflection of the message in the song. Singer, songwriter and guitarist, Hans Bekx is a talented musician that has honed his skills over the years either as a solo artiste or as part of a group. He is drawn to Afro Pop and is motivated by almost every situation he finds himself,
particularly God’s words and creations. Every stroke of the chords on his guitar is motivation that doesn’t only transform into a creation of a wonderful piece of music but also a constant reminder of his God-given talent.Born Hans Brechum Enyonam Kwame, he hails from Tsibu Awudome, a town in the Volta region of Ghana, where he started his basic and high school education. Hans Bekx is an acronym for his name with the ‘X’ representing the extra lengths and extra work he puts into his music and into achieving his.He was introduced into music back in high school. In school he was more into dancing so most of his compatriots believed he would turn out as
a dancer because of great dexterity on the dance floor. His real passion and desire to take music professionally started in 2000 when he started yeaning to hit the studios to do some recordings. But along the line he realized he needed to learn to use some instrument, so he learnt to play the guitar in 2003 and use it complement his musical project. He initially started with a solo project, did a few tapes but never really used them commercially; apart from listening to them in the
house and trying to improve on them some more. Along the way, he met a set of twins who were also doing their own music. They came together as a group calling themselves, Hans Bekx and V&V. They sang together for a while but were without a record label until the met Kojons who wanted to help them out. He started Kojons Productions and signed the group on as H-Mode. H-Mode stayed under the Kojons Management for three years, and during the period they released their
debut album called ‘Alimamah’ featuring hit tracks like ‘Blue Blue’ and ‘Never Give Up’. ‘No Goals No Glory’ was also another hit; it was a rendition of Never Give Up featuring Obour for the Black Stars of Ghana. When their contract with Kojons was terminated, the group disbanded and decided to go their separate ways. Hans then decided to embark on a solo project again. He was later approached by Kojons this time as a solo artist and so signed a new deal with the record label.
Hans is currently working on his debut album, ‘Brita Dae’ (Brighter Day). Hans describes the album as a very motivational one. “I wanted to send out and inspirational message. The album title is even speaking for itself that in everything you do, be it in work, relationship, friendship, or hardships, you should always believe that there would be a brighter day. Whatever you find yourself doing, you should always work hard and believe there is going to be a better day.” Hans wants his music to cut across boundaries so that everybody can hear him, for his music to impact on society. His lyrics would be a blessing to many and inspire others to achieve their dreams.
