The Hiplife/Hiphop Artiste of the Year at this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA), Kwaw ‘Abodam’ Kese, has disclosed that he would love to do a song with gospel musician Gifty Osei.
In Kwaw Kese’s view, he and Gifty Osei, who was also crowned Gospel Artiste of the Year at the VGMA, shared similar qualities and skills which he believed would make any collaboration a success.
“I am the king of madness when it comes to secular music and Gifty Osei is the queen of madness in gospel music so I am sure our song will cause ripples in the music industry,” he stated.
Even before their partnership, Kwaw Kese has already tagged the collaboration, which he said would be a blend of gospel and hiphop, as ‘Gospop’.
He revealed that he would soon initiate talks with the songstress and then they would take it from there.
Kwaw Kese, who was a guest on Adom FM’s drive programme, ‘Ofie Kwanso’ last week, also commented on Gifty Osei’s costume during her performance at the VGMAs, which has generated so much controversy and for which she has issued a public apology.
For the hiplife/hiphop star, even though he was shocked about the attire, he felt that Gifty made God look sexy on the night.
He said he was shocked that a gospel musician would wear something like that while performing to a large audience, adding that he believed she should be commended for wearing a costume that befitted who she really was instead of behaving like some of her colleagues who sometimes gave off a ‘holier-than-thou’ attitude.
Kwaw Kese however commended her for apologizing to those who were offended by her attire, saying it was in the right direction and advised that musicians be decent whenever they appeared on stage.
He noted that there was no difference between secular and gospel artistes but some people always tagged secular musicians as sinners, which was far from the truth.
