In what appears to be a strategy to save movie fans from getting bored, new faces from the showbiz world are gradually finding their way into Ghana’s movie industry. News-One sources say latest to join the league of actresses is Afro-Eclectic African soul singer Efya Awindor, and one time Ghanaian presenter of Dstv Studio 53, Anita Arskine.
The two women have received scripts for an upcoming movie by Media GH. They will be playing major roles alongside top acts Chris Attoh, Nadia Buari, Kofi Adjorlolo, and Yvonne Nelson among others from Nigeria and some fresh new faces movie fans would definitely love to see on the screens.
Definitely the movie will be a new page in Efya’s young entertainment career. She is described as a legendary singer in the making. World-class South African musician Hug Masekela compared Efya’s style of singing to Fela Kuti.
“…but she was fantastic; the things she did were like medieval and artistes like that need a medieval setting. See artiste like Efya needs her own club, the way Fela had the shrine. You know but she needs her own place where she can do this stuff,” he stated.
She was phenomenal last year on the music scene and hopes are that movies fans would like her acting output when the movie is finally done.
